A view from 1939:
COLUMBIA FALLS, (3,099 alt., 637 pop.), planned as
a division point on the Great Northern Ry., and platted on
a scale that proved too generous when Whitefish
became the division point. Excellent sidewalks extend some
distance beyond the built-up area.
