Montana
A view from 1939:
Lakeview, with hotel, auto camp, and general store
overlooking the Red Rock Lakes. Butte and Dillon sportsmen
maintained a duck-hunting club here, until the area became
part of a 50,000-acre migratory bird refuge. When drought struck
the eastern part of the State there was a great concentration
of ducks and geese on this preserve. White trumpeter swans,
a species almost extinct in the United States, nest here. There
is good fishing.
